THE STORY BEGINS

Following the tragic and fatal shooting of his friend John Lennon, the Swedish artist Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd created a tribute to embody John’s aspiration for a world without violence. As a result, Carl Fredrik designated the iconic ‘’Knotted Gun’’, which he named ‘’Non-Violence’’.

The sculpture, initially displayed at the Strawberry Fields memorial in Central Park, was later cast in bronze and prominently installed in front of the United Nations’ headquarters in 1988. This move underscored its significance as a symbol of global peace and unity.
